Black Birds of Autumn

October 14th was a raining day. A cold rain that chills to your bones. The blackbirds in the woods were noisier than usual. The sound of hundreds of birds was deafening. Add the sound of rain and the wind blowing the leaves, it was a choir of nature at high volume. The black birds would circle when the wind picked up. They would return to their roost in the trees. The wet forest in autumn with the dreary sky made for a calm and relaxing stare, fading into daydreams. I grabbed my camera to record the moment. Taking several shots, I was back at my desk to see what I captured. The wet autumn forest, the dreary sky, the blowing leaves and rain. But something was missing…
